Oh, I’m so excited about this one. Because until about a few hours before this one happened, none of us were sure it would. I was supposed to meet the extended “S” Family on the day that the remnants from a tropical storm were set to hit Maine. The morning was dark, dreary, wet and windy, but by the afternoon, the sun miraculously began to shine. Knowing this was our one chance for this session, we decided to brave the strong winds, and so I hopped in the car and headed to Drakes Island – a favorite spot for this entire crew. One of the people of this amazing family is my friend and fellow photographer Brea of Brea McDonald Photography. While I usually shoot on the main beach at Drakes, Brea suggested shooting around the dunes in hopes that we may block the winds. I didn’t even know there WERE dunes on the other side of this spot, and my photographer heart was bursting the entire time, as we had absolutely amazing light, little wind, and a quiet section of the beach all to ourselves. This session was a gift for Brea’s mother and father-in-law, and included Brea and Scott’s family, Scott’s brother’s family, and their wonderful parents. Our session was full of goofy giggles, wild and dapper little men (with awesome hair, I might add), and a whole bunch of love at a spot that means so much to all of them. It was an absolute honor to be asked to photograph this family, and I am beyond excited about their happy and sun-kissed evening by the dunes on Drakes. Here are my many favorites!
