A couple of weeks ago, I shared senior photos of Cassie, one of my neighbors. Through tears, I shared the story of our incredible neighborhood (you can read about it here), and also shared that this year I am so honored to be taking photos for all three of our seniors. Senior number two is Sebastian, who I had the extreme pleasure of having in front of my lens for an evening in late June.
Again, I find myself emotional, because looking at these photos, I’m just not sure where the time went and how it is even possible that the adorable curly haired 10-year-old I met all those years ago is now a (still adorable!) grow up 17-year-old ready to take on the world. Ever since I met Sebastian, I have loved him. He is one of those kids who hangs out quietly, who you may not know is engaged, and then at the perfect moment he’ll drop the most funny dig or joke or anything that tells you he has been fully present the whole time. I’ve always loved looking out the window while all the kids are playing in the street and seeing Sebastian’s big smile as he takes in all the craziness of his neighborhood “siblings.” He is absolutely hilarious and I have always appreciated his sarcastic sense of humor, playful demeanor, and willingness to go along with anything. We live in a VERY musical neighborhood, and while you might hear the belting out of singing coming from my house, from Sebastian’s house it is the guitar. Sebastian is a fabulous guitar player, trained by the Maine Academy of Modern Music, and a member of two bands – Chicken Salad (LOVING THE BAND NAME! 😂) and Andromeda. And in fact, his band Andromeda is so awesome that they have been chosen to play on the big stage at the Back Cove Music Festival this August! He is in his happy place with his guitar in his hands, and I smile every time I hear the sounds of his music coming from just up the hill.
For Sebastian’s photos, we headed to the Old Port for a mix of senior photos and some family ones too with his mom Alina and dad Kevin. We decided to start in and around the buildings and hope to be by the water for sunset. What we did not expect was the increeeeeedible sunset we received – so full of color and vibrance with beautiful skies, and puffy clouds. It was so unbelievably perfect, and so well deserved by this incredible family. Sebastian was effortlessly cool in front of my cameras with that quiet confidence I’ve gotten to know and love over the past eight years.
Sebastian – I am so proud of you, and so excited for you as you head into senior year. I can’t wait for what is ahead for you and know it is days full of music, good friends, new experiences, amazing writing, and all good things. Thank you for making me laugh throughout your childhood – I can’t wait for you to bring your awesome talent and sense of humor out into the world. You are just plain awesome. ❤️
