This project is a funny thing. Month after month goes by and I spend my days spinning in circles, often scrambling to get a photo (especially in this wacky year) while balancing a busy work and home life, and then at the end of the month, I inevitably cannot believe another month is over, and I’m sure I’ve totally bombed my project. But then I sit down and go through the images I created, and surprisingly, feel proud of my work, excited about the month we just completed, and hopeful for what images the next month might bring. Of all the months, October is the one I’ve most felt like I’ve “phoned it in.” October is to photographers what March and April are to accountants, and overwhelmed is a major understatement as the work piles up in these last few weeks before the holidays. But what is so fun to see is that despite feeling like I was living on a tilt-a-whirl for the entire month, I found opportunities to capture what was going on around me – the remote learning, the changing leaves, craft projects, visitors, gorgeous fall light, and Halloween holiday. It’s hard to believe that this was my 22nd straight month of capturing every day of my life, and once again I find myself so grateful for the desire to stick with it and capture these memories for myself and my family.
There are 31 days in October. These are our 31 days of October, 2020.
