Last fall, I met Alyssa, Nick, and their three kiddos – Mila, Emme, and Jack, for the first time. Alyssa let me know that the kids may be a little shy for our first session together, and after a short warm up period, we had a fun and playful session at the Audubon. Fast forward to 2023, and I had the pleasure of seeing this family again in June for my spring minis, and then again a few weeks ago for their full fall session. I talk a lot about trust with kids when it comes to my work, and three sessions in, I think it’s safe to say that the shyness capes have let loose, and the trust has been established, because Mila, Emme, and Jack ran circles around all three of us adults during our September session and it.was.awesome. I can still hear the giggles coming from the three goofiest kiddos at Yarmouth’s beautiful Fels Grove on this gorgeous September evening. This was one of those evenings where I leave knowing magic was made, even despite the worried looks on the parent’s faces. For me, the magic of family session is not when everyone is perfectly behaved, with semi-real smiles, and perfect poses. To me, magic comes through giggles, touch, connection, energy, and the beautiful chaos that is life with little kids. The twirls, the funny faces, the inability to sit still – this is the magic of life with littles, and I am so grateful when I have parents like Alyssa and Nick who just roll with whatever our time brings us and let the kids take the lead. I’m so excited to share my favorites of this beautiful family – so full of life, energy, and love for each other and the world around them, and I am so grateful for this beautiful evening we had together here in Yarmouth.
